Mark Twain and His Favorite Pet
$30.00
Post card of Mark Twain holding a kitten. This early publication of this image (Twain holding the kitten) is a bit of a challenge to find. The earliest example I have seen is postmarked November 20, 1911. Black and white with some color tints (in the window frame, the flowers to the left, face, and hands). Divided back. Published by Clark, Frazer, Withers – Mills, MO. Made in U. S. A.
This example has faded colors and is scuffed on the back so that the “Published by” line on the left edge is not visible. It is also scuffed on the back lower right, though nothing was printed there. I have included an image of another card with better “color” so that you can compare. The main image that comes up with the listing is the card for sale. The last (gallery) image is for comparison.
