Wear with loss at head and foot of spine as shown in scans. The book is maroon. The spine cloth has faded and is more brown in color. The spine gilt is still present though not bright. The front cover gilt is reasonably bright. On the blank page that precedes the title page, there is a small ink name written across the upper left corner and a larger pencil name with the date of July 10, 1871 at the top center. The paper is cracked on the front hinge, but the hinge is sound, and the binding is quite solid. The text is clean. Very good except for the spine cloth loss.
