The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County

$675.00

Author: Mark Twain

This is an 1869 printing, originally published in 1867. 1867 first printing of 1,000 copies. 1867 second printing of 552 copies. Through 1870 a total of 4,076 copies were printed and bound, 250 unbound copies remained, as well as 50 bound copies. 1870 was the last year the book was published in it’s original format.

On the whole, good+ to very good-. The book is generally sound. Just a little play in the hinges, not much. Rubbing and wear to the boards can be see in the images. The spine is faded. The book is just a little leaned. There is a small 1/2″ tear at the top of free endpaper. Previous owner’s name and year 1915 in pencil at top of first blank. Some scattered light soiling throughout. A signature, pages 123 through 142, is pulled. It is still connected, but the stitch holes have been stretched. I have tried to show the pulled signature in the images.
