The Innocents Abroad Lengthy Review in Complete San Francisco Evening Bulletin of August 7, 1869

Original and complete San Francisco Evening Bulletin, August 7, 1869 with a lengthy and well-written review of Mark Twain’s new book, The Innocents Abroad on the front page.

This is very early as BAL states, “According to Paine (p. 381) ‘the first copy was delivered July 20,’ 1869. Mr. Frank C. Wilson owns a copy inscribed by an early owner Aug. 14, 1869. Listed PC [Publishers’ Circular and Booksellers’ Recors, London] Sept. 1, 1869. Listed in American Bibliopolist (New York) Sept. 1869.”

The newspaper is complete and in very good condition. Laying unopened, the front page measures about 20 1/2″ across and 27″ in height. There are 6 pages, counting front and back. The spine is split from the bottom about half way up, and there are other gaps, but the pages remain connected, though the connection is fragile.
